 Karla’s
career with real estate began in 1980 as a salesperson’s
licensed in Illinois. In 1982 she was hired as the Executive
Officer for the Alton-Wood River Board of REALTORS® in Illinois.
She got her Illinois Brokers license in 1986.
In 1997 she
tested for and earned the National Association of REALTORS® RCE
(REALTORS®
Certified Executive) designation.
The RCE is the
only professional designation specifically for REALTOR®
association executives. The RCE designation exemplifies
goal-oriented AE’s with drive, experience and commitment to
professional growth.
In 1998, the
Alton-Wood River Board and the Greater Gateway Association
merged and Karla became the Association Executive. She served as
their Association Executive until 2000 when she became the AE
for the Belleville Area Association in Illinois, until June 2002
when she was hired by Prescott Area Association of REALTORS®.
Since coming to
Prescott, she has continued her professional development by
completing the technology training to earn the e-PRO
certification.
In May 2006 Karla
completed the extensive study to apply to sit for the very
comprehensive exam to earn the CAE (Certified
Association Executive) designation from ASAE (American
Society of Association Executives).
The CAE
designates those who have the knowledge to serve as the
executive director of a nonprofit organization of any type or
any size.
Karla has served
on The AAR Executive Committee as well as several special
taskforce groups and KRA’s (Committees) for the Arizona
Association of REALTORS®, including the committee to develop the
AAR Leadership Academy and has served as Chair for the AZ AE’s
Committee. She has also served on work groups with AZ ADRE.
With Karla’s
guidance, PAAR has reinstituted committees, added new events,
and was instrumental in the implementation of our MLS system and
our Supra lockbox system and the implementation of the annual
Leadership Vision Planning session held annually for our elected
officers and directors. In 2008 Karla will be serving on the AAR
Board of Directors.
